Submission problems

If you are having difficulty submitting to Turnitin, work through the following steps:

  1. Make sure you are using the correct submission point particularly when there are on-time and late submission points available to you
  2. Ensure your file is an accepted file type. We recommend one of the following:
    • Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
    • Adobe PDF (.pdf)
    • OpenOffice Text (.odt)
    • PowerPoint (.ppt/.pptx)
    • HTML (.html)
    • Rich text format (.rtf)
    • Plain text (.txt)
  3. Ensure your file has a filename followed by the correct file extension. For example: .docx or .pdf
  4. Your file needs to contain at least 25 words of highlightable text. It can contain some images, but cannot consist entirely of scanned pages or images. You may also encounter issues if large amounts of text are in a text box or form.
  5. Ensure your file is less than 40MB and less than 400 pages. If your file is too large and contains images and photos, consider reducing the size/quality of the photos using a photo editing program
  6. Open a new incognito tab in either Firefox or Chrome. Log into Learning@Griffith in this tab, and try again.
  7. Convert your file to PDF format. You can do this from Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, or Google Drive (accessible from your student Gmail account).
  8. You might experience problems if you copied and pasted Excel graphs or tables. Convert your assignment to PDF or remove the Excel graphs/tables and paste them into the document as a picture (select Paste Special, Picture)
  9. Ensure you tick the boxes to agree to the terms and conditions on the submission screen.
